In a week’s time we will be on a flight from the UK to Portland. This will be the first time Erin and the kids have been back in Oregon in 4 years and 2 years since I was back for a visit. Each of us are holding various levels of excitement and concerns as we leave our home and head back to a place that once was home. Internally, we ask ourselves, “Did we do everything that we needed to in order to prepare the house for our guest staying there over the summer? Will our friends that we have been checking in on weekly choose to engage with our teammates and ministry partners for support since we will not be available? How will our kids do meeting old friends they have few or no memories of? Visiting a new church every Sunday? With all the extra driving we will be doing?”
Taking the time to come back to the Pacific Northwest for the summer isn’t a straightforward or easy task yet we feel strongly that this is an essential part of how we love our neighbors and work for the building of God’s Kingdom in Glasgow and Europe because it allows us to connect with many of you, our ministry partners back in the US. We are excited that we get to share the stories of our neighbors and all that God is doing here in Scotland. To invite you to continue joining us as partners who are praying for breakthrough in the lives of our neighbors, sending messages of encouragement to us when we are feeling discouraged and providing financial provision that allows us to live and minister in this place where God has called and rooted us to be “Good News Agents” for his Kingdom.
Erin visited the London InnerCHANGE team in May and got to participate in some of their ministries. This is a Bible study for recent immigrants who are learning English. Many of them have never read the Bible before joining this group!
In order to connect with as many of you as possible we will be hosting ‘Open House” times in The Dalles, OR and Vancouver, WA. At these events we will be sharing the stories of how God is using our family to share about him in Possilpark, in Scotland and through Erin’s work in different parts of Europe. If you are able to join us it would be helpful if you could RSVP by replying to this email, however this is not essential. Please also consider if you have any friends or family members who would be interested in hearing from us. We would really appreciate your help in getting connected to individuals who are not already on our mailing list.

Our team hosted an event to share more about InnerCHANGE and pray for and bless Iain and Adison. In this photo we’re hearing from Yudi who is on the Xela, Guatemala team and spending part of her sabbatical with our team!
A central ministry focus of InnerCHANGE (IC) is to raise up local leaders especially from our context. Across the globe IC teams do this in various ways and our team has encouraged and supported our neighbors to be more involved in church ministries, community organizations and within their own families and places of work. However, we have never supported individuals from Possil step more into their missional calling as followers of Jesus to go and support the missional work of the Kingdom of God in other places. This summer however, we will be sending two young people that the IC team and our local church have journeyed with for many years to minister with other IC teams in other places.
Iain will be spending 3 weeks with the IC team in Los Angeles, CA using his recently completed sound production degree to support the team’s Music Collective project where they record local high school student’s songs. He will also be supporting the team as they have a summer internship program with some of the teens they minister to. Adison will be supporting our teammate Louise who is in the neighborhood of Govan in the southern part of Glasgow for two months. She will help Louise collect stories of some of the residents of Govan to better learn in what ways the IC team there can love and serve the neighborhood. Adison will use her artistic gifts to then take the stories and create artwork which will then be given back to those interviewed as an expression of their value as individuals. She will also help Louise create a visual vision statement for the IC team in Govan to use as a tool for invitation and recruitment to the team. Please pray for Iain and Adison as they take these steps of obedience and faith to support the work of the IC teams in Los Angeles and Govan.
