May 2025

Dear friends and family,
We recently moved into our new home! We are so grateful for the foresight of MAF over two years ago to start building a second base as the team here continues to grow and need more housing. This house has given us more space, so we no longer feel like we’re constantly tripping over furniture or each other! We are also excited that having a little more space allows for better hospitality.

Jacob continues to work in the hangar as usual, but he is gaining more responsibilities as needs arise. He is currently assisting in a Safety role, as the director of that department is on furlough. We will have several families away on furlough this summer, so our team is working hard to fill the gaps.

I (Rochelle) have been leading worship a bit more frequently at our church and our team meetings. Serving our community in this way has been a big blessing to me. It takes a lot of support from Jacob managing the kids to make this possible. On another note, I have been dealing with arm and knee pain, so I’m working on getting my muscles strengthened with proper exercise.

For the first time, we have not moved during a school year, allowing the boys to complete a full grade level from start to finish with the same teachers … and what wonderful teachers they had this year! Such a blessing! They have grown so much, and we are so proud of their accomplishments!

Teamwork
A missionary in the village of Bina reported that a pregnant woman named Nomarin Murib had been seriously ill for four days, and her baby could not be delivered. The doctor in Sentani advised that she be evacuated to the hospital immediately.

Fortunately, pilot Kees was able to pick up the patient in Bina with his plane. Even though he was busy training pilot Patrick with landings at several different airstrips, Bina was one of the airstrips they had to go to. Since they still had other airstrips to check, they flew the patient to Mulia instead.

Later that day, pilot Tyler flew from Sentani to Mulia with a full load of passengers, seven of whom were recovering patients. His plane returned to Sentani with Nomarin and other passengers. It was a great team effort: the training process continued, and the patient received the help she needed.

A little over a week later, Nomarin experienced her second time flying with MAF. She said that she was very scared to get on a plane at first. Now, she’s not so scared. She was happy to get on an MAF plane, especially when going home with her new baby.

Thanks and Support Update
Thank you as always for your prayers, giving, and encouragement. Your support in these ways is vital to our ministry. Included with our letter is an announcement from MAF President David Holsten regarding a support target increase. We give God all praise-He is already providing for this need!

That said, MAF has received a generous offer to match first-time ministry gifts to staff support, up to S400,000. Your one-time gift of $1,000 becomes $2,000, or your $100 monthly gift becomes $200 a month for 12 months. Would you prayerfully consider joining in this opportunity?
